Team Credit Pass, which features UP Cebu students, alumni, and faculty, won 2nd runner-up in the Finance Track of the Huawei Developer Competition 2025 Asia-Pacific, taking home a USD 2,000 prize at the awards ceremony on November 20 in Hong Kong. Out of 293 teams across the region, Credit Pass was one of two Filipino teams in the Finance Track.

Credit Pass is a credit capacity system designed to improve how financial access is measured for unbanked and underbanked people in the Philippines. The system provides practical, grounded solutions that address real-world social and economic challenges.

The team members are Atasha Nicole Bahande of the School of Management, James Gabriel Elijah Ty of the Department of Computer Science, UP Cebu Lecturer Darmae Maningo-Tan, Computer Science alumnus Wince Dela Fuente, and Francis Tallo from the Asian Institute of Management, who is also a UP High School Cebu alumnus. Their combined expertise in management, finance, and technology helped shape Credit Pass into a solution with both innovation and social impact.

By placing in the Huawei Developer Competition Asia-Pacific, the team demonstrates the capabilities of Filipino innovators in practical and socially responsive technology solutions. Participation in the competition also provided the team with opportunities for professional growth, networking, and access to resources to further develop and expand their project, supporting the growth of AI and fintech innovations in the Asia-Pacific region.
