On February 2021, UP Cebu applied for a trademark for the official name of the UP Cebu Virtual Learning Environment or UPC VLE. With the help of UP Cebu’s own ITSO the trademark was officially registered in April of the same year and the UPC VLE is now UVEC. UVEC is a wordplay for Cebu, with which when read backwards becomes UBEC, hence, UVEC. The interface and function of the VLE are still the same, but this new branding gives a more localized and home-grown feel of the LMS.
