The University of the Philippines Cebu has formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to serve as Co-Host of the 20th Quadrennial World Congress of the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women (IAPESGW), to be held on November 5–7, 2025, at the University of the Philippines Cebu and the Magnum Sports Complex.
The IAPESGW World Congress is a prestigious international platform for advancing equity, inclusivity, and innovation in physical education and sport for girls and women worldwide. By taking on the role of co-host, UP Cebu underscores its commitment to fostering research, dialogue, and collaboration that empower women and girls through sport and physical education.
Recognized as one of the most significant global assemblies in the field, the Quadrennial World Congress brings together educators, researchers, practitioners, and advocates to exchange best practices, present cutting-edge research, and shape policies that advance gender equity and inclusive participation in sport.
The MOA signing was attended by UP Cebu officials Asst. Prof. Palmy Marinel P. Tudtud (Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Geofe O. Cadez (Vice Chancellor for Administration), and Asst. Prof. Ma. Alena N. Macasil (Director, Office of Student Affairs), alongside Ms. Geraline Bernardo (President, Sport Management Council of the Philippines) and Maria Lusia M. Guinto, PhD (Secretary General, IAPESGW).

With the theme “Equity in Action: A Global Dialogue on the Advancement of Women and Girls in Physical Education and Sport Innovation,” the 2025 Congress will convene participants from across the globe in meaningful discussions and collaborations.
Highlights of the Congress include:
- Keynote presentations from leading global institutions such as the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab and the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE).
- Opportunities to present research, with accepted abstracts published in an ISBN-registered Book of Abstracts, and eligible full papers considered for publication in the Scopus-indexed International Sports Studies journal.
- Workshops, panels, and symposia led by national sport associations and international experts.
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits for participating educators.
