The UP Cebu Men’s Basketball team defeated the University of St. La Salle Bacolod, 85–75, emerging as champions of the 3rd Mayor Joedith Gallego & Silay Sports Invitational Basketball Tournament held on August 21–23, 2025.
More than a title, the victory affirms that even as a young program begun in 2023, the UP Cebu Fighting Maroons can compete with grit, discipline, and heart.
Individual honors were also awarded, with Andrew Padilla named Most Valuable Player (MVP) and both Padilla and AJ Delos Reyes selected to the Mythical Five.
UP Cebu extends its gratitude to the players and coaches, alumni and families, as well as the tournament organizers, the City Government of Silay, and partners whose support made this achievement possible.
