Cebu City, Cebu — The University of the Philippines Cebu administration, led by Chancellor Atty. Leo Malagar and Legal Officer Atty. Leo Bono, met for the third time with occupants of the University’s Talisay property to continue discussions on proposed redevelopment plans on July 27, 2025, at the UP Cebu Lahug Campus.
The property, which was donated to UP Cebu, is being considered for institutional development. The administration has maintained regular engagement with the occupants to ensure that plans are communicated clearly and that the concerns of stakeholders are heard.
During the meeting, the UP Cebu team outlined two initial options: a potential land swapping arrangement or the development of a UP campus extension that may include housing components. The occupants were generally receptive to the proposals, with discussions focused on ensuring fair and transparent processes moving forward.
A public consultation is scheduled for August 2025 to further discuss the plans and gather input from a wider set of stakeholders.
Further updates will be released through UP Cebu’s official channels.
