The University of the Philippines Cebu and Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. formalized a partnership to support student scholarships through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signing held on July 23, 2025, at the Interactive Learning Center.

Beginning the first semester of Academic Year 2025–2026, Aboitiz Foundation will award 12 scholarship grants to qualified undergraduate students from UP Cebu. This initiative is part of the Foundation’s education program and its aim to provide the best education they need to improve their lives, their home, and the nation. 

The scholarships will be open to students from the BS Computer Science, BA Communication, and BA Psychology programs. The grant will support students with strong academic standing and demonstrated financial need.

Representing UP Cebu during the signing was Assoc. Prof. Carl Milos Bulilan, on behalf of Chancellor Atty. Leo Malagar and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Asst. Prof. Palmy Marinel Tudtud. The UP Cebu Office of Student Affairs was represented by its Director, Asst. Prof. Ma. Alena Macasil, along with Ms. Marilou Mante (Junior Scholarship Affairs Office), Dr. Annabelle Maglasang, and Ms. Emily Torrevillas-Lauglaug (Guidance Services Specialists).

Signing on behalf of Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. was Jowelle Ann R. Cruz, Impact Lead for Education. Engr. Nico Arancillo, Assistant Vice President for the Technical Support Group of Visayan Electric Company, Inc., also joined the signing. Other representatives from Aboitiz Foundation and Visayan Electric Company, Inc. were likewise in attendance.

Details on the scholarship application process and selection criteria will be announced by the UP Cebu Office of Student Affairs.
