FabLab UP Cebu kicked off its 10th anniversary celebration with FABCONNECT: Bridging FabLabs in the Islands, held on October 15–16, 2026, bringing together representatives from FabLabs across the Central Visayas and Negros Island regions to strengthen collaboration and exchange ideas on design, innovation, and community development.

The two-day event opened FAB10, FabLab UP Cebu’s anniversary celebration anchored on the theme, “Designing for Communities, Communities for Design.” It provided a platform for participating FabLabs to share their experiences, discuss their work, and explore opportunities to strengthen the country’s maker network.

The program featured FabLab island reports, design workshops, a manufacturing immersion visit, and discussions on the future of making and design. These activities highlighted the value of connecting fabrication laboratories, sharing knowledge, and building partnerships that support local innovation.

As the first phase of the two-part FAB10 celebration, FABCONNECT underscores the role of collaboration in advancing digital fabrication and community-centered design across the Philippines.

The anniversary celebration will continue with Design Next: Innovation and Design Futures Conference on November 20–21, 2026. The conference will bring the celebration into its next phase, focusing on innovation and emerging directions in design.

Fablab UP Cebu or the Fabrication Laboratory, Cebu’s first and the second in the Visayas, is a partnered venture between the Department of Trade and Industry Cebu and University of the Philippines Cebu’s Design program.
