The Associate in Arts (Sports Studies) Program (AASS), through the Office of the Chancellor, successfully hosted the Employee Wellness Program 2026 from June 17 to 19, bringing together faculty members, REPS, and administrative staff for a three-day initiative focused on health promotion, physical activity, and workplace well-being.
Anchored on the theme “Building a Health-Promoting University Through Sports and Wellness,” the program aimed to cultivate a healthier, more active, and resilient UP Cebu community by encouraging preventive health practices and fostering a culture of wellness in the workplace. The initiative forms part of the Academic Improvement Program of AASS, which seeks to advance learning and engagement in sports, fitness, and wellness through programs that benefit both the University and the wider community.
The program opened with a Capacity Building Workshop featuring health, fitness, and wellness experts from across the University of the Philippines System. The sessions provided participants with evidence-based perspectives on employee health promotion, physical activity, fitness assessment, workplace wellness, and building a culture of health and resilience within academic institutions.
The following two days focused on the Annual Fitness Assessment and Wellness Activities, where participants underwent body composition screening, blood pressure and heart rate monitoring, flexibility and endurance testing, and functional movement assessment.
These activities allowed participants to gain a better understanding of their health status and identify opportunities to improve their overall fitness and well-being.
