The UP Cebu Design Program officially opened its annual Design Week on June 1, 2026, at the Kabilin Center with the theme “RE•PORMA: Design as Rebuilding,” highlighting the role of design in addressing the needs and experiences of urban communities.
Alongside the opening was the launch of the annual Product Design Exhibition, “Tágbô,” which welcomed guests to explore the works of 18 graduating Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Product Design students.
The exhibition featured various design projects built around the intersection of the lived experiences of urban communities and the creation of products that promote efficiency, comfort, and well-being.
In his opening remarks, Asst. Prof. Jay Nathan Jore said, “ang mga tao nga nagpa-eskwela nato ug libre, mao sad […] atoang alagaran,” highlighting the responsibility of designers to serve the communities that make public education possible.
The exhibition featured designs that address different aspects of urban living, organized into three studios: Studio Sustainability, Studio Personality, and Studio Well-being.
Studio Sustainability introduced designs that examine how sustainable practices can be integrated into urban environments, particularly amid the challenges posed by limited resources.
