The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) celebrated their Economic and Financial Literacy Week (EFLW) last November 6-10, 2017 with the theme of “O, Kita Mo Na: Pag May Alam sa Ekonomiya at Finansya, Malaki Ang Ginansya.” In line with this NEDA Region VII hosted a Regional fora with the theme of “O, Nakita na Nimo? Basta Dunay Kahibawo sa Panalapi ng Economiya, Dako ang Ginansya.” The fora was held at the AVR 1, UP Cebu Lahug Campus, Cebu City and was attended by students from various schools and representatives from government agencies. The participants were welcomed by Mr. Kenneth C. Cobonpue, Chairperson of the Central Visayas Regional Development, Atty. Liza D. Corro, Chancellor of UP Cebu and Mr. Efren B. Carreon, Regional Director of NEDA Region VII. Among the lecturers for this fora are our own faculty of UP Cebu; Prof. Yuleta R. Orillo from the College of Social Sciences talked about “Ikaw ug ang Ekonomiya,” Dr. Tiffany Adelaine G. Tan, Dean of the School of Management lectured on “Linking Economics and Finance” and Dr. Marie Jane J. Matero, also from the School of Management, spoke on “Targeting Breakeven and Savings” and gave the participants some practical exercises to expand their knowledge on how to compute for breakeven and savings of a business.
